** If
you're a geeky kinda person, READ ON! If not, then read if you want to
be bombarded by geeky stuff! **
ACK DOH welp, time to talk about
myself.
Inspirations: Music, Movies, Books, Video
Games, Computers, Nature, and Art, people who do good
things, yin and yang.
To my left
is my picture of...myself. Finally after 6 months of having this
website up I can sit down and write a small bio about myself.
After 4 years at the Acadmy of Art University, San Francisco, I finally
got my BFA in Visual Effects! It's been a long and arduous yet fruitful
learning experience there (but costs WAY too much esp for the liberal
arts classes). I now venture out into the job world doing what I
love, and hopefully get paid well for it! Or else, all is lost, and I
have failed at the game of life. Can't let that happen can I?
I've been
into computers for like ever, since about 3rd grade elementary school I think when I got
hands on experience on DOS 4.0 on my old 386-33mhz computer
playing video
games and such. Ever since then, it's just been a gathering storm of information and experience for
me. Even before my 386-33 though, I played and was
fascinated by the
my uncle's computer everytime I went over there to play. We played old school games like space
invaders, some weird 2D side scrolling astonaut game, typing
tutor, and name the states of America game! But even
before that, I was playing the Atari system of old, then graduated
to the God-like Nintendo
Entertainment System which kept me busy most of my elementary school life (with games
like Contra, Top Gun, The Legend of Zelda, and Mario Bros., it was
impossible NOT to have fun on that system!). Then came the
gameboy, then came Super Nintendo my dad bought me in LA,
then came Sega
Genesis, then came Nintendo 64, and now Gamecube for my console needs. No playstation or
Xbox you say? Well those mostly banned from me, as I'm a
fanboy (meh) of
Nintendo and intend to endorse it above any other system. Yes there are good games on the other
system, but they
should be on the OG fun system our generation! Oh well, there's always the PC games to liven up
the days or get ports from the console games. The PC,
probably
consumed about 1/3 of my living life or more maybe...addiction maybe (I've stopped now really!), but
through it, I've gain much from it. The gaming world has shown me
particles, environments, and imaginative worlds that got me into
programs like
Photoshop, Maya, Windows. Games like Everquest (Evercrack), Final
Fantasy XI, Eve, Dark Age of Camelot, and World of Warcraft are among
my past online adventure games that I now never have time for anymore!
As time
passed by during my highschool/early college years, I've gotten many
computer related jobs as a web designer and graphic
artist...then the lame economic recession came along with the
"Dot.Com"
meltdown that basically killed off 75% of the computer tech job market from it's peak in the
late 1990's.
So after going to UCR for two years and
just really
hating it from boredom and no direction, I turned to art school where I hope to develop the 3D
skills for visual
effects, the film industry, and the game industry that I aspire to work in. So here I am,
after 8 years of making my first webpage for my high school
newspaper and
winning a few awards for my effort, I'm now expanding my skills in
another school. But doing this, also comes at a cost; my piano skills are dipping down
and my loan
debt has risen to...ALOT of money! I'll probably finish paying it
off when I'm 50...
But I think
it's worth it, I had great teachers along the way that way for my
style and artistic personality and I'm very thankful for them. I've
much to learn in life now that I've graduated. Also going for what I really love to do instead of doing
something I don't, like say doing Pre-Med or trying to become a
lawyer (as most
asian parents want, money=security=happiness meh), is in my opinion, the right choice for
me. With my "studying" of going to the movies and spending about
$2,000 a year in the theater, I hope it has trained me well enough to
be doing the inspiring work I see other movie professionals do in this
field.
Doing visual effects work like compositing, matte painting, particles,
and dabbling in photography, motion graphics, editing has gotten me on
great wave in life and I hope I will continue to do art throughout my
life and career.
If you're still reading this bio, time for you to hear some cheesy
stuff. Listen to your heart and follow your dreams as to what to
do in life, to prove your worth, and to help others in need with
whatever you do. Many people don't attain their 'dream' job and
fall into a spiral trap of despair. I'm lucky that I am the one
that was able to follow my own path of being an artist in the visual
effects field. Like the message of my super short film,
do what you dream ^^
